Repeal and Replace legislation for the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, has been under consideration by Republicans for several years, so the actual progress of legislation should move right along.
Since the Affordable Care Act was in a “death spiral” (where healthy individuals leave and the sick are paying higher prices until the Act collapses) prior to the November election, an answer to affordable coverage for everyone, is needed and getting a correct bi-partisan answer is very important for every citizen of our country.
As legislative recommendations are made, we will try to bring you our expert comment on the value of what is being recommended.
To start with, one of the buzz words for cost containment that was presented by President Trump in his address to Congress was “selling across state lines” to achieve savings. It sounds great, but according to the link below from Bob Lazsewki, a Washington health care consultant, selling across state lines could very well create a national “death spiral,” just like the Affordable Care Act. Insurance plans in cheap states will pull insurance plans away from the heavily mandated states, leaving the mandated states with the sick citizens and cost increases is A VERY BAD IDEA.

We will bring these issues to your attention as the legislation progresses.
